Thodoris Iliopoulos’ hunger strike has led to violence. Just not in Greece.
On Tuesday, a Serbian anarchist group fire-bombed the Greek Embassy in Belgrade. They demanded Ilipoulos’ freedom in an e-mail to the media.
A day earlier, (Monday August 24), there was an international day of solidarity. It reached as far afield as a picket line outside the Greek consulate in San Francisco. There was also a concert at the Propylaia which athens.indymedia.org says featured at least one clash with police.
The blog Occupied London reports that Iliopoulos, the last prisoner from the December Riots, is down to 48 kilograms and back in prison. The site claims Greek authorities had said he would be transferred to a non-prison hospital, but for unstated reasons transferred him back to prison.
Tomorrow is the 50th day of Iliopoulios’ hunger strike.
